For Auditors

Technical Accounting Support That Improves Audit Readiness

Rapid-Ascent Consulting provides technical accounting and financial reporting consulting services to government management teams. Our work is designed to help governments organize their financial information, resolve complex accounting issues, and prepare clear supporting documentation before the audit process begins.

We do not perform audit, review, compilation, or any attest services, and Rapid-Ascent Consulting does not act as an independent CPA firm. Our role is limited to providing consulting and technical support to management.

By strengthening the quality of financial information and documentation available to management, our work can make the audit process more efficient for everyone involved.

Our Role

Rapid-Ascent Consulting works with management, not on behalf of auditors.

Our consulting services focus on helping organizations:

  • organize accounting records

  • prepare technical accounting schedules

  • strengthen reconciliation processes

  • assemble financial reporting support

  • resolve complex accounting issues before the audit begins

All decisions regarding financial reporting remain the responsibility of management.

How Our Work Supports the Audit Process

When accounting records are organized and well documented, audit engagements tend to run more efficiently. Our consulting work helps management prepare information that auditors frequently request during an audit engagement.

Examples include:

  • Balance sheet reconciliation schedules

  • Capital asset rollforwards and depreciation schedules

  • Grant and program revenue tracking

  • Due to/from fund analysis

  • Support schedules for financial statement balances

  • Financial statement tie-out documentation

These materials are prepared for management’s internal use and review and may be provided to auditors by management as part of their normal audit preparation process.

What Rapid-Ascent Consulting Does Not Do

To avoid any confusion regarding professional roles, Rapid-Ascent Consulting does not provide:

  • Audit services

  • Review engagements

  • Compilation engagements

  • Agreed-upon procedures engagements

  • Attestation services

  • Audit opinions or assurance services

  • Independence-related services for audit engagements

We also do not represent ourselves as acting in the role of the independent auditor or CPA firm.

Working Alongside Independent Auditors

Our consulting services are intended to complement the work of independent auditors, not replace it.

By assisting management with financial documentation and accounting support before the audit, organizations can often:

  • respond to auditor requests more efficiently

  • reduce delays during fieldwork

  • improve the quality of financial reporting support

  • address accounting issues earlier in the process

All audit procedures, conclusions, and opinions remain the sole responsibility of the independent audit firm.

Collaboration and Communication

Rapid-Ascent Consulting respects the independence and professional role of external auditors. When management requests it, we can help organize documentation in a format that aligns with common audit information requests.

However:

  • auditors determine their own procedures

  • auditors obtain their own evidence

  • auditors draw their own conclusions

Rapid-Ascent Consulting does not influence audit conclusions or provide assurance regarding financial statements.

A Clear Separation of Roles

Our work is structured to maintain a clear separation between:

  • Consulting Support to Management, and

  • Independent Assurance Provided by Auditors

This distinction helps ensure transparency, professional integrity, and a smooth working relationship between management teams and independent audit firms.
